In attaining the National Swimming Diploma A, your child shows that he or she:
Can orientate themselves above water with clothes on, after an unexpected fall into the water, by treading water, swim a basic distance with one or more of the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, elementary backstroke, front crawl, back crawl), and can independently climb out of the water.
Can enter the water in various ways, orientate underwater, and swim through something.
Has a basic level of fitness to cover a basic distance with one or more of the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, elementary backstroke, front crawl, back crawl).
Can perform the four swimming strokes (breaststroke, elementary backstroke, front crawl, back crawl) technically sufficiently to well over a basic distance.
Can float on the stomach and on the back. Your child feels comfortable in the water.
Can tread water with arms and legs, can turn around, and orientate themselves.
Standard Examination Program for National Swimming Diploma A
A1 Survival Test
Enter the water from a height with a forward jump, followed by
Resurface and immediately tread water for 15 seconds, followed by
Swim 12.5 meters, and complete the test by
Independently climbing out of the water onto the edge
A2 Underwater Orientation Test
Enter the water from the edge with a jump (diving preferred), followed by (without resurfacing)
Swimming underwater through a hole in a vertically hanging canvas located 3 meters from the starting edge
A3 Endurance Swimming Test
25 meters of breaststroke, followed by
25 meters of elementary backstroke, followed by
